Installing BlackBuntu Linux on your computer is an easy process. This guide will cover the basic install, with the option of encrypting the partition. At times, you may have sensitive data you would prefer to encrypt using Full Disk Encryption. During the setup process you can initiate an LVM encrypted install on either Hard Disk or USB drives.
First, you’ll need compatible computer hardware. BlackBuntu Linux is supported on amd64 (x86_64/64-bit) platforms. The hardware requirements for the latest version of BlackBuntu Linux are minimal as listed in the section below, although better hardware will naturally provide better performance. You should be able to use BlackBuntu Linux on newer hardware with UEFI and older systems with BIOS. Boot your System
Insert your installation media into your computer and through your BIOS settings start BlackBuntu Linux. After loading a screen will appear with the options to "Try" or "Install" BlackBuntu Linux.


Keyboard Layout
The next step allow you to select your keyboard layout. Choose the one matching your device and click "Continue".

Updates and Other Software
It's now the time to select the default softwares configuration. We recommend to follow the below screenshot if you are not sure. This will install all hardwares required drivers for you network adapter, graphic card and other resources and click "Continue".

Installation Type
The next step is crucial. You will need to choose either if you want let the "installer" create the partition required to work properly for you or if you want to create it by yourself. Clicking the "Advanced Features" button you will be allowed to choose also if you want to encrypt your disk and use "LVM" for your new BlackBuntu installation. When you are done, simple click "Continue" to move to the next step.


Choose a Security Key
This step is optional. It's depend if you selected to encrypt the BlackBuntu Linux installation in the previous step or not. If you did, then is now the time to enter the password that will encrypt your drive and to click "Continue".


Configure your Location
If you think this point is not essential, you are wrong. The mirror selected by BlackBuntu to perform updates or install new packages is selected according to your geographical area. Indicate where you are located and click "Continue" when you are ready.

Create User
Like every Linux installation you need now to configure the username, computer name and password. Remember that it is the password to access your OS account, we recommend you to create a long and complex one. When you are done, simple click "Continue" and go to have a coffee.

The installer is now deploying BlackBuntu on your machine. The time needed for the installation vary accordingly to the options you selected and your Internet connection. The average needed time rarely exceed 20 minutes.

Installation Complete
As stated in your screen the installation is now completed. You will need to click the "Restart Now" button. In the next screen you will be prompted to remove your USB Disk.

Login to BlackBuntu
You are done. It's now the time to login for the first time to your BlackBuntu Linux entering the password your configured during the installation process.
